Assuming this is your first account here, I'd like to offer a few helpful suggestions-

If you feel a bit lost, don't worry! Try checking out the Frequently Asked Questions.

If you have a little extra time, come introduce yourself at the Welcome Center forum.

As for promoting your work, it can be tough with so many other artists out there... I'd suggest taking a look at A New Artist's Guide to dA.
(I know it's quite a bit to read, but it can really help get you noticed here)
